Fans Hungry for Cam Ward vs. Shedeur Sanders Late-Season Showdown

The NFL schedule release extravaganza has come and gone, and after almost 24 hours, we can breathe again.

The Cleveland Browns have the 13th hardest schedule in the NFL after posting a 3-14 mark last season, a year where injuries and poor play at key positions plagued the team.

But there is one notable matchup that Browns fans and maybe even just NFL fans around the country might be paying attention to.

Cleveland will host the Tennessee Titans in Week 14, in what conceivably could be the first-ever contest between quarterbacks Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.

Ward went No. 1 to the Titans ... it's all thumbs-up there ...

And Sanders fell to the Browns at No. 144 overall in the fifth round after a historic slide. ... where "thumbs-up'' wasn't exactly the mood of his supporters.

Ward is the favorite to start the season under center in Nashville, while Sanders is in the middle of a four-way competition with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel in terms of who starts in Cleveland. ... to open the season and beyond.

Flacco is the presumed Week 1 starter for the Browns, but he might not finish the year depending on how things go. And by Week 14, anything is possible. It could be any one of the four taking snaps.

But the most interesting scenario for fans and for the public at large, no doubt, is a Ward vs. Sanders matchup.

Any chance for Sanders to play in the upcoming season will give him an opportunity to show every team in the NFL that he should've been selected higher. Much higher. Or it's a chance for us all to see that his fall in the draft was justified - and that he's nowhere near Ward's class as a prospect.
