Devin Veresuk Sees Two Teams, Two Camps, and Two Countries, All in a Week

Devin Veresuk, the Tiger-Cats’ opening pick, second overall, in last month’s CFL draft, saw his initial action in Black and Gold in Wednesday’s practice after arriving from Indianapolis where he’d been invited to a mini-camp by the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.

“The past five days have been definitely pretty hectic,” said the Windsor native, who played for his hometown Lancers in the OUA. “I got to Indianapolis on Thursday and stayed there for about four days. It was stressful; it was a difficult playbook with a lot of different language and there were a lot of changes for me. It was my first time playing American ball so it was definitely something to get used to.”

> “It was a great experience. I learned a lot.”

“I got sent back here on Monday, and then I’m driving up here the next day. I had team meetings and then got to play ball on Wednesday.”

By the end of the first practice he was slotted in as the second defensive unit’s middle linebacker, which he prefers to the WILL or weakside linebacker because it allows him to move both laterally in both directions along the second tier.

And what’s he most looking forward to in Ticat camp?

[“The overall coaching, a hundred percent,” he said. “I think there’s a lot of untapped potential with me and I think I need some proper coaching.”](https://www.ticats.ca/2025/04/30/milton-lb-veresuk-highlights-defence-heavy-draft/)
