The big players arrive in the game’s big moments, but rarely if ever can a 17-year-old have been so instrumental in helping a club achieve a league title win.
It was poetic that Lamine Yamal would break some tough resistance from Espanyol, and his spectacular goal will be replayed for years.
Just like his contemporary, Lionel Messi, everyone knows what the talented teen is going to do but they just can’t stop him doing it.
Witness the way in which the Periquitos defenders were left in his slipstream as Lamine slalomed into position before firing off a shot that Messi himself would’ve been proud of.

Whilst it’s true that he didn’t have a brilliant first half, when it mattered he came into his own.
The manner in which Espanyol tried to stop him too was always going to end with one of their players seeing red, and so it proved.
Certainly, officials are going to have to continue to protect his talent, because more and more players that are in opposition to Lamine are going to resort to the dark arts if and when he embarrasses them.
A 28th La Liga title is no more than he and his team-mates deserve, and the only small bone of contention this season is that the squad weren’t able to make it all the way to Munich and have a crack at an unprecedented third treble of league, cup and Champions League.
No matter, Barca are very much back under Hansi Flick and the blueprint is there for further success from next season onwards.

Taking the title back from Real Madrid - who were so keen to showcase to the world their brilliant new striker in Kylian Mbappe - and beating them in every fixture this season just adds to the delight for anyone of a blaugrana persuasion.
What is also likely to work in Barca’s favour is whilst many of their opponents both domestically and in Europe will be competing in the Club World Cup, the Catalan giants can send their playing staff off on some nice relaxing summer holidays.
When Lamine Yamal and his colleagues come back fully refreshed and raring to go, woe betide anyone that thinks they’ve got his number.
This is just the beginning, and watching this special player blossom over the next few seasons will be an absolute joy to behold.
