“A New Name I’m Hearing”–Journalist Claims Chelsea Could Join Race For£84M Rated La Liga Star

**Chelsea are one of the clubs that could make a move for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.**

The Brazilian is expected to be on the transfer market this summer, and Jacobs says the Blues, Arsenal and Liverpool are all keeping tabs on his situation:

“Rodrygo is a new name I’m hearing. There’s nothing advanced between Chelsea and Rodrygo, but what I can tell you is Real Madrid are willing to let Rodrygo go.”

“He’s been forced to play at Real on the right side because of Mbappe and Vini Jr, but his best position and where he really likes to play is on the left side.”

“Chelsea are aware of that market opportunity without really moving on it at this point. The same can be said for Arsenal and also Liverpool as well, so keep an eye on Premier League clubs and Rodrygo.”

Chelsea are believed to be in the market for a right-footed left winger. Mykhailo Mudryk’s provisional drugs ban combined with doubts over the future of Jadon Sancho mean it is a position that will need to be strengthened.

With Rodrygo seemingly keen to play in his preferred position, Chelsea would be able to accommodate him. At 24 years of age, he would also fit the profile of player they would target.

Chelsea do have alternatives

----------------------------

Rodrygo’s price tag is said to be €100m (£84m) so that could prove to be major obstacle if the Blues decide to pursue him.

However, Enzo Maresca’s side have been keeping tabs on other wide players. Borussia Dortmund’s [**Jamie Gittens**](https://chelseanews.com/blog/chelsea-transfer-news-jamie-gittens/) has been scouted, and reports suggest he could be available for €60m (£50.5m). Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho was also considered as an option during the January transfer window and interest in the Argentinian international could still be revived.
