Rodrygo and Viktor Gyokeres lead dream Arsenal XI ahead of Mikel Arteta transfer masterplan

Arsenal have big plans this summer to strengthen the team as Mikel Arteta aims to hunt down that infamous Premier League title. Having tried in the last three years but come up short it is not a mystery to anyone where the shortcomings are in the side.

It is widely agreed that this summer transfer window is seen as, potentially, the last roll of the dice for Arteta and this group. There is ever-growing pressure on the idea of winning a trophy next season, with another trophyless campaign being simply not acceptable for a club the size of Arsenal.

Others, however, would disagree and say that as long as the club remains in the fold for silverware and is competitive, then why would Arteta face any pressure? Yet the view on the market is relatively even across supporters.

In a dream scenario, Arteta will get backed this summer and end it with a perfect group of talent ready to take on the gauntlet, prepared better than ever before. football.london delves into such a reality and discusses what the team might look like for the start of next season.

The back line remains relatively untouched. David Raya, now taking the No.1 shirt, will have a familiar sight in his immediate vicinity: Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Myles Lewis-Skelly all ahead of him.

Any defensive signing this summer will be designed to add depth and not be a starting figure in the team. A Jorrel Hato might be ideal after long-term interest from the club.

In midfield, the deal for Martin Zubimendi is already considered to be at a level where the club are confident the Spaniard will be joining them this summer. He will add to a midfield of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

Up top is where the most excitement is for who could be joining Bukayo Saka in the front three. The most viable candidate in the centre-forward role for the time being appears to be Viktor Gyokeres.

Arsenal could land the Swedish international for a reasonable price despite Sporting CP inserting a €100million (£84.3million) release clause in his deal. To complete the puzzle, though, is a potential market opportunity in the form of Rodrygo from Real Madrid, who could finally unlock his potential in his more natural left-wing role with Arsenal.

Dream Arsenal XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard; Saka, Gyokeres, Rodrygo.
