Chelsea can take a giant step towards guaranteeing Champions League qualification when they face Manchester United tonight.
Despite suffering a 2-0 loss to Newcastle last weekend, the Blues remain on course to seal a top-five Premier League finish as they prepare for their final home assignment of the season.
Needing a win to ensure fate remains in their own hands whey they travel to Nottingham Forest next weekend, a showdown with Man Utd appears to have arrived at the best possible time.
Ruben Amorim’s side have endured a miserable Premier League campaign and whilst the threat of finishing one place above the relegation zone is hanging over their heads, ultimately the focus is on next Wednesday’s Europa League final.
That said, United are capable of grinding out results against the traditional big six clubs and will put a massive dent in Chelsea’s Champions League qualification hopes if they leave west London with at least a point.
