Man Utd preparing late hijack to sign 52-goal ace who already has £9m Arsenal offer on the table

In a move that would certainly steal headlines, Manchester United are now reportedly preparing to hijack Arsenal's move to sign a clinical goalscorer who has already received an offer from the Gunners.

Strikers Man Utd could sign this summer

Since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo after his second stint at the club, Manchester United have needed a striker. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have both arrived in an attempt to ease that problem, but there remains little sign that either of those two arrivals will become the attacking solution that Ruben Amorim so desperately needs at Old Trafford.

Involved in a combined eight goals between them in the Premier League this season, it's clearer than ever that Manchester United must overhaul their attacking options when the summer arrives.

On that front, INEOS are already seemingly preparing to do exactly that. Both Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap have found themselves on Manchester United's radar in recent weeks and both could reportedly be on their way to Old Trafford this summer.

He could replace Bruno Fernandes in the event of the captain's departure.

All it takes is one look at their numbers to realise just how much of an upgrade they'd be compared to Hojlund and Zirkzee. Whilst the United duo have managed eight contributions between them, Cunha has managed 15 goals and six assists, whilst Delap has scored 11 goals and created another two in the Premier League this season.

It is also worth noting that Manchester United could set their sights even higher if they qualify for the Champions League by beating Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final next week. And that could see the Red Devils pursue a move to sign a 52-goal star for Amorim this summer.

Man Utd preparing late Gyokeres hijack

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are now preparing a bid to sign Viktor Gyokeres ahead of Arsenal, despite reports that the Gunners have already tabled an offer worth £9m-a-year to the Swede and their deal is at an advanced stage. Having worked so successfully with Gyokeres at Sporting Club, however, Amorim may still hold hope that United can pull off what would be a shock hijack.

Praised for an "insane" free-kick by analyst Ben Matinson, ifCunha and Delap's numbers were impressive, then Gyokeres' are otherworldly. The Sporting star has scored a stunning 52 goals throughout the current campaign and now looks destined for a big move when the summer arrives.

Whether Manchester United are in a position to afford such a player is the big question. Previous reports have suggested that Gyokeres will cost as much as £64m this summer. If that is the case and the Red Devils fail to qualify for the Champions League against Tottenham next week, then the deal may be considered off the table for all involved at Old Trafford.
