Wolves striker Cunha emerged as a target for Arsenal in January, but the Brazilian signed a new contract at Molineux instead. However, in March, he admitted that he wants to leave Wolves in the summer transfer window.

Many expected the Gunners to make a move for the attacker, which according to reports in Brazil, they have done recently. However, it seems they may miss out on him to rivals Manchester United.

According to Goal Brasil, Arsenal made a move to sign Cunha in recent weeks, but the attacker would rather join Man United, and is close to an agreement which would see him move to Old Trafford.

He has a £62m release clause in his contract, however with add-ons, any deal for Cunha is expected to be worth around £67m in total. Cunha has scored 15 goals in 31 Premier League games this season, however, Arsenal are going to have to look for a striker elsewhere it seems.

Who could Arsenal sign up front?

According to the most recent transfer news, Arsenal look most likely to sign Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, who is expected to cost around £60m.

He has scored a superb 38 league goals in 30 games this season for the Portuguese side, and looks set to return to England after moving from Coventry City to Sporting CP in 2022.

Gyokeres has never played in the Premier League, but seeing as he has shown form in Portugal and in the Champions League, Arsenal could be getting themselves a world-class goal scorer if they do sign the Sweden international.
