**_TalkSPORT_ pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Liam Delap should “go to” West Ham this summer, rather than moving to Manchester United.**
The Red Devils are said to be leading the race for the 22-year-old but Agbonlahor has urged the forward to reconsider. He feels Delap would be much better off going to the London Stadium at this stage of his career:
“If I were him I wouldn’t be going there (United) at the moment. I wouldn’t stay at Ipswich. I’d go to a West Ham, go and prove yourself at West Ham, the next step.”
“They need a striker, Ferguson will go back to Brighton, that hasn’t worked out. They’re desperate for a striker.”

Delap does have a £30m release clause in his contract so the Hammers could stump up the funds required if he were willing to make the switch to the London club.
However, the former Manchester City player has given no indication that he is looking to join Graham Potter’s side. In addition to Man United, Chelsea are deemed to be the other frontrunner for the player’s services.
Who are the alternatives to Delap?

Lille’s Jonathan David is available on a free transfer, with the 25-year-old set to leave Lille when his contract expires next month. Many believe that the Irons have a better chance of landing the Canadian international than the likes of Delap.
Other names, such as Crystal Palace’s Jean Philippe Mateta, Strasbourg’s Emanuel Emegha, Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Tim Kleindienst have been mentioned, in addition to Tottenham’s [**Timo Werner**](https://hammersheadlines.com/west-ham-transfer-news-timo-werner-fans/).
Delap would likely be the top choice for most fans but, as things stand, a move to West Ham looks like a remote possibility.
