Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Chelsea for May 16

This is a Manchester United predicted lineup for their Premier League clash with Chelsea. The finalists for two seperate European competitions are set to collide as part of a Friday night doubleheader of league action. Once upon a time, this would’ve been a title decider of sorts but now it’s a clash between a Red Devils team just outside the relegation zone and a Blues side desperate to keep astride in the race for Champions League football.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

### How Manchester United Have Lined Up Recently

Andre Onana is the main option in goal with Altay Bayindir coming in as a rotation option. In the centre-back trio, there have been a few names featured like Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro as guaranteed first-choice players. Noussair Mazraoui, Tyler Fredericson, Luke Shaw, and Victor Lindelof have filled in as either the third man in the line or to let the main trio rest.

Mazraoui is also an option as a wing-back where Patrick Dorgu and Diogo Dalot are the primary options. Due to injuries and a need for rest, Harry Amass has come in on the left recently. Amad Diallo recently returned from injury and has played on the right as a wing-back.

In the centre of the park, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Casemiro are mixed and matched to be the central midfield pairing. Ahead of them, Alejandro Garnacho, Mason Mount, Mainoo, and Bruno Fernandes operate as inside forwards/attacking midfielders to support the striker.

The striker spot has limited available options which has allowed Rasmus Hojlind to start the majority of matches there. He was replaced by Chido Obi previously but the youngster likely won’t be trusted for a  match of this stature.

### Manchester United Recent Form & Tactics

Ruben Amorim continues to stick by his 3-4-3 setup that got him success with his previous team. There’s still a clear period of adjustment for the Red Devils going from Erik ten Hag’s ideas to a back three with wing-backs. This hasn’t been helped by injuries which have caused some key names to switch in and out a lot without getting a chance to settle.

Results in the league are truly woeful, United are one of the least in-form teams in the English top division and are just one point better off than an equally abysmal Tottenham. Neither squad has yet reached the 40 point mark in the Premier League. Defensively, this is a team that can be very frail, they’ve kept just two clean sheets across all competitions since the start of April. Wins in the Europa League have glossed over the poor domestic form but the table doesn’t lie and this is one of the worst-looking Manchester United teams, possibly ever.

### Manchester United Injuries to Consider

According to [PremierInjuries](https://www.premierinjuries.com/teams/manchester-united), there are a number of absentees for the manager to deal with, that’s not even getting into those coming back from injuries that will need to the managed fitness-wise. Lisandro Martinez is definitely ruled out for this one, as are Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt from the back line. Ayden Heaven still appears to be injured but updates have slowed down on him. Joshua Zirkzee is out for the remainder of the campaign while Jonny Evans, Dalot, and Tobias Collyer round out the injured list.

In addition to that lengthy list, both Shaw and Mount have recently returned after their own issues, both are likely to be prioritised for the Europa League final instead of this one.
