Mikel Arteta faces the media ahead of Arsenal’s last home match of the season as they host Newcastle United in what is something of a second-place play-off. The Gunners are two points ahead of Eddie Howe’s team, and the feeling is that whoever wins will claim that spot.
While it would not have been the end to the season that Arteta nor their supporters would have wanted, it is the one they have and now need to see through. There is expected to be questions on the latest team news too after a couple of issues from the game with Liverpool.
Mikel Merino is suspended for the match, while Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber couldn't play on Merseyside due to problems and Leandro Trossard came off with a muscular issue too. Kai Havertz however did return to training this week after a long-awaited period of time having undergone hamstring surgery and the Spaniard is sure to be asked on his availability before the weekend.
