Manchester United are ready to hijack Arsenal's move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to CaughtOffside.
The Gunners are leading the race for Gyokeres and are closing in on an agreement with the Swedish forward after offering a five-year contract worth £9m a year. But he has been linked with United since Ruben Amorim's appointment at Old Trafford in November 2024.
The 26-year-old Swede enjoyed a meteoric rise under Amorim at Sporting, posting 66 goals in 68 games. The Red Devils are primed and ready to swoop for the former Coventry City man should a move to the Emirates not commence.

The Red Devils prepare bid
Viktor Gyokeres
While Arsenal are frontrunners for Gyokeres and GIVEMESPORT sources indicate they are offering him £240,000 per week, there's still a chance United will prevail in a battle with the Gunners and Liverpool for the 26-cap Sweden international. Arne Slot's Reds are also in contention amid suggestions he could replace Darwin Nunez at Anfield.
The Red Devils are "preparing to make a bid" and could come to the front of the queue should they beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final. Gyokeres wants to play in the Champions League, which will only be possible for Amorim's side by winning Europe's second-tier competition next week.

Gyokeres, who was recently hailed as "unstoppable," has been in red-hot form throughout the season, firing his way to the top of the European Golden Boot rankings. United have long needed a reliable goalscorer amid struggles up top, with Rasmus Hojlund unable to reach expectations and Joshua Zirkzee serving more as a number ten than a number nine.
Juventus are reportedly considering a move for Hojlund, which could open the door for Gyokeres to arrive at Old Trafford. His relationship with Amorim could play an important role in deciding his future, but Champions League football seems to be a must.
