Mikel Arteta will hope that his Arsenal side can show some resurgence and get back to winning ways this weekend. However, it could be tricky, as Newcastle are currently fighting to secure a top-five spot and a place in next year’s Champions League.

But how will Arteta line up against the Magpies, and will his starting XI be good enough for the Gunners to win all three points.

Timber returns to Arsenal defence

GK – David Raya –Raya looks to have his second consecutive golden glove award locked up as he continues to perform for Arsenal.

LB – Myles Lewis-Skelly – The English youngster was booked in Arsenal’s last game which was a 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

CB – William Saliba – The Frenchman looks set to stay at the Emirates as Real Madrid opted to sign Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen instead.

RB – Jurrien Timber – The Dutchman comes back into the starting XI after he was rested in the last game in favour of Ben White.

Jorginho replaces the suspended Merino

CM – Jorginho – The Italian comes in for Merino who was sent off against Liverpool and Declan Rice who is injured. It could be Jorginho‘s last game as an Arsenal player.

CM – Thomas Partey –Partey keeps his place in midfield, leaving Arteta with what is quite a defensive set-up.

CM – Martin Odegaard – Due to having two defensive midfielders, Odegaard should be allowed to play in more of an attacking role.

Sterling starts up front

LW – Gabriel Martinelli –Martinelli keeps his place on the left-hand side with Trossard out with a knock.

RW – Bukayo Saka –Saka starts on the right, hoping that he can help provide Arsenal with some crucial goal scoring chances.

ST – Raheem Sterling –Sterling replaces Trossard and Merino up top for what could be his last game with Arsenal.
