Harry Redknapp Tips Chelsea To Land“Upgrade On Nicolas Jackson”Over Man United This Summer

Former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp has tipped Chelsea to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.

The Blues are in the market for a striker this summer amid the lack of depth and inconsistent performances of Nicolas Jackson this season.

Jackson has made 30 Premier League appearances this year, scoring 10 goals for Enzo Maresca‘s side; not a bad return, but they are likely to invest in an upgrade this summer.

One name that Chelsea has been linked to is Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, who has a £30m release clause following the Tractor Boys’ relegation to the Championship. However, Delap has also been strongly linked to Man United, as the two find themselves in a battle to sign him.

Former Premier League boss Redknapp believes that Chelsea will land the 22-year-old. Speaking to BetVictor, he said: “I’ve heard that Chelsea are quite hot on Liam Delap – I could see him going to Stamford Bridge this summer,” he said.

“I would say Delap is an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson if Chelsea were to move for him. Jackson has shown flashes this season but hasn’t been at his best since coming back from injury. Singing Delap would at least give Chelsea that option of switching it round if things aren’t going well for them in games.”

Who could Chelsea sign if they fail to land Delap?

Delap isn’t the only striker who has been linked with a move to Chelsea. Considering that United look better positioned to sign him at the moment, the Blues could instead opt for Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian doesn’t have Premier League experience, but he has netted 24 goals in 28 league games for Galatasaray this season.

His loan deal at the Turkish side will expire in June, he will then return to Napoli, who are looking to sell him. Chelsea are keen, and considering he has a £62m release clause, they could sign him without opposition if they act fast.
