If you’re able to look past how insanely distracting his outfit is, former Pro Bowl quarterback Cam Newton, who played under Bill Belichick during his NFL days, recently made some great points about his divisive relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson.
According to Cam Newton, who played for Belichick and the New England Patriots for one season in 2020, his relationship with Jordon Hudson is such a bad look that he believes an NFL locker room would laugh at him for it.
Speaking on his 4th & 1 podcast, Newton ripped Bill Belichick over the relationship and made some salient points about why it’s going to affect his career.
“In the NFL locker room, we would laugh at this. As a teenager, I could compartmentalize this person as being my coach and take heed of what he’s saying. And be able to not throw that back at him and say, ‘Eh, what you got going on, coach? Got girl problems just like me?'” Newton said.
The 36-year-old former NFL MVP also made an extremely shrewd point about his ability to attract recruits to the University of North Carolina, as he wondered how him dating a woman nearly 50 years younger than him looks to the mothers of the players.
“I find it extremely interesting for a person who always led with this: ‘Do not be a distraction.’ We talking more about Jordon Hudson than talking about who’s our starting quarterback. You can’t name me three players on North Carolina’s roster right now besides Jordon Hudson,” the former Patriots quarterback said.
“Now you have that same situation with a 16-year-old that you’re trying to recruit. And you got to talk to his momma? This ain’t a good look.”
During his lone season in New England, his final as a starter in the NFL, Newton started in 15 games and completed 65.8% of his passes for 2,657 yards, 8 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, in addition to rushing for 592 yards and 12 touchdowns.
