Liverpool have made “contact” with Christopher Nkunku about a potential transfer this summer, according to journalist Santi Aouna.
The Footmercato reporter has a chequered record when it comes to accuracy but he says the Reds are one of “several top clubs” vying for the Chelsea forward’s signature, along with Newcastle and Bayern Munich.
Considering Nkunku has struggled for form and fitness since arriving in England, many supporters on X believe that recruiting the Frenchman would be a mistake:

I'd rather keep Nunez then signing a injury dude who spent most of his career in the side line

Nkunku was targeted before Liverpool signed Nunez
Reliable sources claim the France international was recommended to Jurgen Klopp by the club’s recruitment team during the summer of 2022.
Many of their scouts regarded Nkunku as a better replacement for Roberto Firmino than Darwin Nunez but the latter was signed for a club record £85m instead.
Ironically, Nkunku could be lined up to replace Nunez, with the Uruguayan international expected to leave Anfield over the coming weeks.
How much would the forward cost?
When Nkunku was linked with a transfer to Manchester United in January, it was suggested that Chelsea wanted as much as £65m.
However, since then, reports have claimed that the Blues could make him available for as little as £30m to £40m. Even for that price, though, many fans would still be against him making the switch to Merseyside.
