Two Teams In The Hunt For Kirk Cousins

The Cousins saga has been dragged on existentially with potential no end in sight, but two teams stand out as potential future homes. The Saints and Steelers currently have the two least experienced quarterback rooms with no true starter for 2025.

The Steelers have been stuck in a back and forth with Aaron Rodgers that has no answer just yet, and the Saints are dealing with the recent retirement of Derek Carr and uncertainty at that position.

Cousins has made it clear he wants to compete for a starting spot rather than just sitting on the bench. With Michael Penix jr. taking over, Cousins is just sitting on a massive contract that he signed before 2024.

The Saints are currently looking like the main location for Cousins as they are in purgatory with not a single player who has won a regular season game. Spencer rattler and Jake Haener have both had decent showings but nothing to confirm a starting spot for either, especially after drafting Tyler Shough in the second round.

The Steelers on the other hand have a bit more experience with Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson, but neither has shown they can be the next big star. Rodgers has also not fully made a decision on his future which could be a big reason as to why a Cousins trade has yet to go down for Pittsburgh.

Both of these teams could be looking to add Cousins in the near future before the preseason as every team continues to build their roster.
