Report: 'One of the best strikers in Europe' now looking more and more likely to join Arsenal this summer

Arsenal have a busy summer on the transfer front as they look to strengthen their ranks in pursuit of glory next year.

The Gunners had high hopes for this season but they’ve been left empty-handed, so they’ll be eager to put that right for next term.

A new striker is high on Arsenal’s agenda this summer after calls throughout the year for the Gunners to bring in a new centre-forward.

For instance, Ian Wright claimed in January that signing a new striker would’ve been reassuring for Arsenal fans.

The Gunners now seem to be moving quickly this summer, with a deal for Martin Zubimendi already over the line for Arsenal.

Now, it has been reported that “one of the best strikers in Europe” is looking more and more likely to join Arsenal this summer.

Viktor Gyokeres looking more and more likely to join Arsenal

Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres is the player in question, with Arsenal appearing to be moving closer and closer to his signature.

Mikel Arteta is desperate to get big names over the line early in this window in order to give him the best possible pre-season, The Sun has reported.

The outlet claims Gyokeres is ‘looking more and more likely to be one of those names’, with Arsenal keen on getting a deal over the line for between £60million and £70million.

It is believed that Gyokeres is ready for a new challenge, while Sporting don’t want a transfer saga to emerge and drag on into the summer.

In addition, the opportunity for Arsenal to sign a top striker in his prime with such a superb goal-scoring record for a relatively low fee is “unique”.

How Viktor Gyokeres compares to Mohamed Salah and Raphinha

By comparison, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has 33 goals and 23 assists from 50 club appearances, while Barcelona’s Raphinha is on 34 goals and 25 assists from 49 club outings.
