The San Francisco 49ers missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020 this past season, as they finished with the worst record in the NFC West at 6-11.
Now, they are looking to have a bounce-back season for the ages. … as Niners fans hope for good news.
That is exactly what Daniel Chavkin of Sporting News predicts them to do, as he thinks they will finish the 2025 season with an impressive 12-5 record. That would have been enough to win the division in 2024.
"While the 49ers had a disappointing season in 2024, an easier schedule and improved health this year should allow for a bounce-back," Chavkin writes. "Expect San Francisco to return to the playoffs and once again challenge for a spot at the top of the NFC given its much more favorable situation."
Perhaps the biggest reason for the Niners collapse this past season was a barrage of injuries to their star players, including Brandon Aiyuk tearing his ACL and MCL, and Christian McCaffrey having Achilles tendinitis.
Now, everyone will hopefully be healthy for the 2025 season. They no longer have star wide receiver Deebo Samuel, but many are expecting sophomore wideout Ricky Pearsall to step up.
The 49ers made the Super Bowl just two seasons ago, and while they fell to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, that proves that Brock Purdy can get the job done.
If the team can stay healthy for the most part, they will be looking to get right back to the big game and hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
