Broncos make personnel-department promotions; name new assistant GM

Broncos general manager George Paton’s new second-in-command on the personnel side is someone who predates Sean Payton’s arrival as head coach.

The team named Reed Burckhardt the team’s assistant general manager on Friday, moving him up from director of player personnel.

The assistant general manager title was held by Darren Mougey, who left in January to take the general manager’s job with the New York Jets.

Burckhardt was previously Denver’s assistant director of pro personnel.

He joined the team one year after Paton, following him to Denver after a 13-year stint with the Minnesota Vikings where he worked alongside Paton in the personnel department there.

Burckhardt is one of nine Broncos personnel officials to receive promotions or title changes this month.

Denver also made two hires to its personnel department: Cam Williams, who becomes co-director of player personnel following a nine-season stint with the New England Patriots, and Jordan Dizon, who returns to the club after a three-season stint with Philadelphia as a national scout.

Dizon was with the Broncos as an assistant director of pro personnel and a pro scout from 2015-21. He will now serve as the club’s director of pro personnel.
