Barcelona on alert as Manchester United name price for Marcus Rashford - report

FC Barcelona have long had their eyes on Marcus Rashford. They have been trying to sign him for years, and they came close to getting him on loan in the last transfer window.

Now, his future at Manchester United FC appears all but over, with the club willing to sell the England international for £40 million this summer, according to a new report. Following a productive loan spell at Aston Villa, several Premier League rivals are reportedly ready to move for the forward.

Rashford contributed four goals and six assists in 17 appearances under Unai Emery before a hamstring injury ended his season early. Villa have an option to buy him at £40 million, but they do not have exclusivity. Any club that matches United’s asking price and agrees terms with the player can step in.

Despite being under contract until 2028, Rashford is unlikely to feature again for United while Ruben Amorim remains in charge. A permanent move is seen as the best solution for both sides.

One major obstacle is his £315,000-per-week wage. Villa are believed to have covered at least 75 percent of his salary during the loan, and Rashford is said to be unwilling to accept a pay cut. That limits his options to UEFA Champions League clubs willing to meet both the fee and his salary expectations.

Barcelona are keen on the player but are probably less thrilled by his high wage demands. With his loan spell over and a return to United unlikely, Rashford’s next destination remains uncertain. Another loan spell is also not ruled out.
