Another game, another defeat for Ruben Amorim's Manchester United.
The Red Devils' torrid campaign has continued to slump as Amorim's side sit 16th in the Premier League table, only Tottenham, who also lost on Friday, sit between them and the bottom three.
United and Chelsea's clash wasn't a game for the ages - with the match coming alive in a five-minute period after the hour mark.
Chelsea saw their spot-kick waved off by VAR, after it was originally given by Chris Kavanagh, before Marc Cucurella powered a header home. They should have doubled their lead a couple of minutes later, but Noni Madueke missed the target.
The one goal was enough for the Blues, who have moved into the top four with the result - leapfrogging Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

United are now looking ahead to the Europa League final - with Friday proving less than ideal preparation for the clash.
The only silver lining the Red Devils can take from the game is that Spurs are also heading to Bilbao off the back of a defeat.
Ange Postecoglou said after their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa: "He [Pape Sarr] felt something in his back and took him off as a precaution. Not too significant and Mikey was OK but was just fatigued.
"He [Son Heung-min] is ready and available. They all are ready to start. It was important tonight and he feels like he is getting back to some rhythm.
"I thought up until they scored the boys worked hard, they were really disciplined and organised. We didn't really let them create too many openings. We had our moments as well going forward but once they scored we lost a little bit of belief.
