Former Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy has struck gold with his contract.
Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers are finalizing a five-year contract worth $265 million. The contract reportedly contains $181 million in guaranteed money.
The deal makes Purdy the seventh highest-paid quarterback in the NFL behind Dallas' Dak Prescott ($60 million per year), Cincinnati's Joe Burrow ($55M), Buffalo's Josh Allen ($55M), Green Bay's Jordan Love ($55M), Jacksonville's Trevor Lawrence ($55M) and Miami's Tua Tagovailoa (53.1M).
Purdy is a former three-star high school recruit from Gilbert, Arizona. Purdy quarterbacked ISU for four seasons from 2018-21. In 2020, Purdy led the Cyclones to their first appearance in the Big 12 Championship Game and a Fiesta Bowl win against Oregon.
The 49ers drafted Purdy with the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Purdy's rookie deal was for four seasons and worth $3.74 million. He has started 36 games in his first three seasons, including the 2023 Super Bowl.
