The Philadelphia Eagles had plenty of characters on their Super Bowl-winning team last season. Two of the funniest, though, came from the secondary.
Safety Reed Blankenship and slot cornerback Cooper DeJean were playfully dubbed the "Exciting Whites" in Philadelphia's secondary. Both were key cogs in the Eagles boasting the top-ranked defense in the sport last season.
Now, the two are podcasting together, as many modern athletes are doing during the offseason.
The topic of their first show 'Exciting Mics?"
Whether the recent trendy debate on "One Gorilla vs. 100 Men'' is worthy of a Philly twist ...
DeJean, a hero from Super Bowl LIX, had an intriguing alternative to the debate. Instead of 100 men, would a gorilla be able to win in a fight with the 2024 Eagles?
"We're not talking about average human beings," DeJean said of the 2024 Eagles. "Obviously a gorilla is bigger than a human, but gorillas don't lift weights, though. I'd take our team. I'd take our team over anybody ..."
DeJean had a pick-six during the Super Bowl that helped the Eagles jump out to a 17-0 lead that effectively ended the game midway through the first half. Blankenship recorded multiple tackles, but was off the score sheet in key areas.
That's perfectly fine for Philly, though. The former UDFA remains an underrated player on the Eagles, especially in the back end.
So are the two of them right? Could the 2024 Eagles actually defeat a gorilla? In the end, these are the kind of mindless questions football fans get faced with during the offseason.
And it just reminds us how badly we all miss the game.
