Chelsea secured what could be a vital three points in the battle for Champions League qualification on Friday night.
A header from Marc Cucurella was enough to clinch victory against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
The nerves were clearly getting to the players as they failed to lay a glove on their opponents in the opening stages of the match. Noni Madueke had a chance early on, which he fired over the bar but Enzo Maresca’s side struggled to create any other meaningful openings until one key moment in the second half.
A great turn and cross from Reece James found Cucurella, who headed the winner past Andre Onana with 20 minutes to go. Madueke had another chance immediately after the goal but he failed to make a great connection with his shot. The Blues then had to hold on for the win.
