Chelsea make final Alejandro Garnacho Man Utd transfer verdict as Dean Huijsen arrives in London

Enzo Maresca will be desperate to end the Premier League campaign with a win. Nottingham Forest will host Chelsea at the City Ground on Sunday, May 25, for the final game of the season, with a place in the UEFA Champions League up for grabs.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side held the Blues to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge back in October. Chris Wood fired Forest ahead shortly after half-time before Noni Madueke found an equaliser on the hour mark.

The west Londoners enjoyed the lion's share of possession, but they struggled to breach the visitors' low block. While Maresca puts his players through their paces at Cobham this week, higher-ups will be laying the foundations to a busy summer of ins and outs.

So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up all the latest Chelsea news and transfer gossip.

Huijsen arrives in London

According to Fabrizio Romano, Dean Huijsen arrived in London on Friday afternoon to complete his medical before signing for Real Madrid. The 20-year-old defender was linked with a move to Chelsea not too long ago, but Los Blancos were keen to quickly secure his signature.

The report claims that Huijsen will put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Real Madrid 'soon' and begin preparations for the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer. Romano adds that Xabi Alonso, who's set to replace Carlo Ancelotti, views the Bournemouth youngster as the perfect centre-back, and he was key to striking a £50m agreement.

football.london says: "I wish Dean Huijsen all the best. I'm sure he'll do really well at Real Madrid. If I was him, I would've gone to Liverpool though. He could've deputised Virgil van Dijk for a few years before becoming the main man at Anfield."

Chelsea make Garnacho decision

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea have 'cooled their interest' in Alejandro Garnacho. The report claims that the Blues will now prioritise a move for Jamie Gittens, who's been described as their 'top target'.

It's said that Chelsea are focusing on the 20-year-old winger despite previous contact with Manchester United over Garnacho. Maresca seems to be in the market for a new left left wingers this summer, with Mykhailo Mudryk still suspended and Jadon Sancho's future unknown.

football.london says: "If Chelsea can sign Jamie Gittens for a reasonable fee then that's great. I just fear that Borussia Dortmund could demand an extortionate amount of money."

Maresca confirms Chelsea transfer plan

Maresca has confirmed that he wants Chelsea to sign a new striker this summer. Speaking to reporters ahead of the Blues' clash against United, the Italian was asked whether the lack of competition had harmed Nicolas Jackson's development.

"I'm not able to answer now because I don't know the other part, if a No 9 was here," said Maresca. "For sure, with us, in my personal opinion, he has grown and improved a lot. Now if another No9 was here is it better for him? I don't know."

football.london says: "It's over to the Chelsea board now. If Victor Osimhen is prepared to sign a contract that fits the club's wage structure then he should top the shortlist. If not, I like Viktor Gyokeres. Liam Delap and Benjamin Sesko could be options too."
