Chelsea could face punishment from the authorities following a pitch invasion from a fan during their win over Man United, Keith Hackett has said.
The former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official exclusively told Football Insder that the individual in question will also be facing prosecution for his actions.
Chelsea beat Man United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Friday night (16 May) to keep themselves in pole position to qualify for the Champions League heading into the final game of the season.
There were though a number of controversial moments throughout the course of the game that also provided significant talking points.

Man United attack halted late on by fan invasion
With just 16 minutes on the clock, a narrow offside against Harry Maguire denied Man United an opening goal of the game.
During the second half, both Tyrique George and Amad Diallo would be denied penalites at either end of the pitch, as the hosts eventually took the lead.

That proved to be enough to secure a vital three points for Enzo Maresca’s side in the race for Champions League football, although Man United may feel they missed out late on due to the actions of a fan.
As the visitors pushed forward in search of a late, late equaliser, play was stopped as a Chelsea supporter ran onto the field, only to be tackled by a steward before making contact with players or officials.
Now, Hackett has revealed that the incursion of that supporter is likely to lead to punishment for both the individual, and the club.
‘Chelsea face sanction over fan’s action’ – Keith Hackett
After being asked by Football Insider if Chelsea could be punished for the incursion of the fan onto the pitch, the former referee said:
“Well done to the stewards, they acted with speed and prevented any escalation of a possible assault on a player or match official.
“I have no doubt that the Chelsea fan will be prosecuted for entering the field of play. The club will no doubt interrogate their security systems and are likely to face a sanction from the authorities.”
Victory over Nottingham Forest on the final day on Sunday 25 May will now all but certainly guarantee Chelsea will be playing in the Champions League next season.
