Araujo misses Barca training ahead of Villarreal clash

Ronald Araujo looks set to miss [Sunday’s La Liga clash for Barcelona](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/barcelona-la-liga/2025/5/17/24431488/how-will-barcelona-line-up-against-villarreal-la-liga) against Villarreal due to a knee problem.

The defender was absent from the team’s final training session before the game, although there’s been no update on his condition from the club.

Araujo appeared to suffer a knee problem in the win over Espanyol last time out. He was taken off during the match and appeared later on with strapping on his knee.

Hansi Flick does have options if he is without the Uruguayan. Inigo Martinez is back from suspension, while Andreas Chrisensen is fit again and was praised by the boss pre-match.

“He’s doing very well. He’s a great player. He’s not at his best yet. He’s only played one match, but he’s on the right track,” he told a pre-match press conference.

Barcelona head into the match with top spot already secured, but Flick says his team still want all three points.

“Villarreal is a fantastic team. We want to win and celebrate the title with all the fans,” he explained. “We want to end the season as champions. We haven’t lost a single game in LaLiga this year and we want to keep this good feeling going.”
