Alabama football’s quarterback, Ty Simpson is a prospect who could potentially see his name soar up 2026 NFL Draft boards next season, according to Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus.

Simpson is looking to earn the right to be named the Tide’s next starting quarterback after serving as a backup for three seasons. The redshirt junior is a former five-star out of Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee.

Since stepping foot in Tuscaloosa, Simpson has only appeared in 12 games and completed 24 passes for 310 yards while scoring three rushing touchdowns on 22 career rushing attempts for 130 yards.

The former five-star is now considered the favorite to win Alabama’s starting quarterback job after a strong spring, which led Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb to say Simpson would start if Alabama played an actual game at the end of spring practice.

Kalen DeBoer and the rest of Alabama’s coaching staff have made it clear Alabama’s quarterback competition is still ongoing with Keelon Russell and Austin Mack competing with Simpson for the role.
