Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have been viewed as the top contenders to win the Super Bowl for much of his tenure in the NFL.
Mahomes, who recently capped off his eighth season in the NFL, has already established himself as one of the greatest players of all time.
While Tom Brady holds the crown in most fans'eyes as the No. 1 player in NFL history, Mahomes has been the biggest competitor in the debate.
As the Chiefs quarterback prepares for his ninth season in the league, he was recognized as a Hall of Famer.
However, this recognition isn't in the NFL. He went back home, where it all started.
Mahomes, who played at Whitehouse High during his high school football career, has been inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.
The NFL announced the news to fans on social media, sharing Mahomes' accolade with millions of followers.
"Patrick Mahomes and Robert Griffin III inducted into Texas High School Football Hall of Fame," posted the official social media account of the NFL.
Mahomes shared the post from the NFL, where he's showing off his brand-new Hall of Fame ring.
