As the offseason continues to fly past and the 2025 NFL season begins to draw closer, the Pittsburgh Steelers still have a massive question that needs to be answered. They don't have a legitimate starting quarterback right now, and Aaron Rodgers has given no clear indication of his intentions.
Mason Rudolph and Will Howard are the two quarterbacks on the roster. Both of those players are solid quarterbacks, but they aren't the kind of player a hopeful contender would want to have in the lineup.
Rodgers has been the obvious top target for the Steelers. They are still holding out hope that he will sign and be the team's starting quarterback in 2025. There is also still a good chance that he could do that and lead Pittsburgh to success.
That being said, there is also a good chance that Rodgers decides to head off into the sunset and retire. He could also sign with a different team, like the New Orleans Saints, or simply remain a free agent and wait for another opening.

If the Steelers run out of patience, a surprising alternative option has been brought up as a possibility.
CBS Sports analyst Bryan DeArdo has suggested that Tyler Huntley might be a possible target for Pittsburgh if Rodgers doesn't end up signing.
"While there are still parts of his game that need refining, Huntley would nonetheless be a very viable option for the Steelers if Rodgers decides to spend the 2025 season doing something else with his time," DeArdo wrote.
Huntley spent the 2024 NFL season with the Miami Dolphins. He played in five games, completing 64.7 percent of his passes for 829 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.

At 27 years old, Huntley would be a very interesting option for the Steelers. He's nothing close to the kind of impact player that Rodgers would be, but he's capable of playing good football and would likely be a better starting option than Rudolph or Howard.
Granted, it would be a disappointing end to the offseason if Pittsburgh has to pass on Rodgers in favor of Huntley. The team would be nowhere near the kind of potential contender that it could be with Rodgers under center.
Despite that fact, the Steelers can't force Rodgers to play. If he chooses to pass on the opportunity of playing quarterback in Pittsburgh, Huntley could be an alternative option.
