Gyokeres sends 'let's go' message ahead of potential final Sporting match

Viktor Gyokeres has sent a message on social media amid continuing transfer links with Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta is keen to add his attacking options in the summer transfer window, with Gyokeres identified as a top target. The Swede has caught the eye with his goalscoring exploits with Sporting CP, scoring 52 goals in 50 appearances for the club this season.

Arsenal’s need for a new number nine has been clear for a while. Despite their efforts in the winter window, they were unable to complete a deal for a striker. The Gunners have been hit with injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, leaving them without a natural centre-forward for the last few months.

Gyokeres has been a long-term target for Arsenal. It has now been reported that the club are closing in on an agreement with the 26-year-old over personal terms.

It’s claimed that the agreement is over a five-year contract expected to be worth around £175,000 per-week. It comes after other reports claimed that Arsenal had made their first offer to Sporting for Gyokeres worth £63.5 million.

Amid the speculation over his future Gyokeres is seemingly concentrating on finishing the season in a positive way with Sporting. his team are in La Liga Portugal action against Vitoria on Saturday evening, with Gyokeres named in the starting line-up.

Before the game, the striker posted a picture of him and his Sporting teammates celebrating a goal on his Instagram story. He added the caption “Let’s go,” along with a lion emoji.

Arsenal are not the only club to be linked with an interest in Gyokeres. Both Manchester United and Chelsea are among the sides said to be looking at a potential move for the striker in the summer window.

"They wanted most of the starting players to stay and held on to us tightly," Gyokeres said after the summer transfer window shut last year. "That's how it turned out, but I really enjoy Sporting so it was no problem for me to stay.

He added: "Of course. You want to play at the highest level."

It has been reported that Gyokeres has an £84m release clause. On that, Gyokeres said: "Of course it's a lot of money. But we'll see what happens in the coming windows.

"But that's what Sporting believes I'm worth and then you have to respect that."
