Viktor Gyokeres breaks silence amid Arsenal transfer interest and'agreement'over move

In-demand Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has opened the door to an exit amid Arsenal transfer links. However, the Sweden talisman failed to be drawn on where his future lies as he revealed that he 'doesn't know what will happen'.

The Gunners' target was on the scoresheet for the 39th-time in the Portuguese top-flight on Saturday as he completed the scoring to ensure they remain two points clear at the top. Gyokeres' formidable goalscoring return has landed him on the radar of Europe's elite as they go in search of attacking firepower.

Mikel Arteta's side have been in desperate need of an out-and-out number nine, making just one signing in that position in the previous seven years.

According to reports, the new sporting director at the Emirates Stadium, Andrea Berta, has made his focus abundantly clear by targeting the former Coventry City and Brighton & Hove Albion forward. It has even been claimed an 'agreement' has been reached over personal terms between Arsenal and Gyokeres and all that is left to do is settle on a fee.

However, Manchester United are among the list of clubs pushing for attacking reinforcements with Gyokeres said to feature high on their list of targets.

The 26-year-old was pushed on his future in Lisbon and admitted that he can't quite predict what will transpire during the summer transfer window.

"It's football, I'm still here," Gyokeres told the Portuguese broadcaster Sport.TV, in quotes reported by the website Record. "I don't know what's going to happen.

"Nobody can predict the future."

Former Arsenal striker Julio Baptista previously claimed that the former Atletico Madrid chief had Gyokeres on his radar for the Spanish capital club.

"Then there’s Viktor Gyokeres, too," he began via Foot Italia.

"The boy has incredible numbers.

"45 games, 44 goals, 11 assists. Arsenal are one of the teams that are supposed to be really interested in him, and I can see why.

"I think the new Sporting Director Andrea Berta really likes him; he was on his radar when he was the Sporting Director at Atletico Madrid."
