Ex-Steelers WR Antonio Brown briefly detained at boxing event

Police briefly detained former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver [Antonio Brown](https://www.pennlive.com/sports/2025/05/antonio-brown-detained-after-gunshots-outside-adin-ross-boxing-event.html) on Saturday after he was involved in an altercation where gunshots were fired after a celebrity boxing event hosted by streamer [Adin Ross](https://www.pennlive.com/steelers/2025/05/what-im-hearing-about-the-pittsburgh-steelers-and-chris-olave.html).

The investigation into the event has commenced in Miami after videos on social media saw Brown and others in an altercation, and gunshots could be heard. Miami police confirmed they received an alert that shots were fired.

Brown was shown in other videos in handcuffs with his hands behind his back, being led away by police officers. After Brown was released after a brief detainment, he joined Ross on his stream.

In that short time on stream, Brown says he was jumped by multiple people trying to steal his jewelry and fought back against them. Brown added that he hoped to press charges against those individuals.

While being detained for a brief time, Brown was released by police and went home that night.

In another part of the stream, Brown says he ‘blacked out’ due to the ‘CTE,’ known as Chronic traumatic encephalopathy, he has from his years of playing in the NFL.

“I got CTE, I blacked out. I ain’t know what happened," Brown said.

Brown played with the Steelers from 2010 to 2018 until he requested a trade out of the organization. Brown became one of the NFL’s best wide receivers when he was drafted, racking up five All-Pro selections and seven Pro Bowls.

They traded him to the Oakland Raiders, and from there, he had a chaotic end to his NFL career, playing for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brown has not played in the NFL since he ripped his helmet and pads off in 2021 against the New York Jets, running off the field as the game was ongoing.
