Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal transfer stance on fee emerges amid Benjamin Sesko development

Arsenal play Newcastle United for the final time this season on Sunday and attention will inevitably be on Alexander Isak at the Emirates Stadium.

Both clubs know a win would guarantee Champions League football for next season, qualification for which will undoubtedly impact each of their summer transfer windows. For the Gunners, missing out would presumably affect which, if any, striker they sign.

Aside from Isak, two centre-forwards they get credited with an interest in are Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres. Here is the latest on those two players as the end of this season approaches in England and across Europe.

Gyokeres 'possible stumbling block'

Sporting CP have reportedly stipulated that they must receive most of the transfer fee for Gyokeres within two years. FootballTransfers claims the striker is unwilling to dispute the payment structure, citing his appreciation of the club and relationship with Sporting.

They also reiterate their previous reporting from earlier this month that Arsenal representatives will be at the Portuguese Cup final. Talks will reputedly take place with Sporting after they play Benfica next weekend.

Gyokeres spoke about his future after Sporting clinched their second Portuguese title in as many years on Saturday evening. "It's football, I'm still here," he said.

"I don't know what's going to happen. "Nobody can predict the future.

Asked to give a message to the club's fans, he said: "Thank you for everything. "It was an incredible season.

"It was a pleasure. "Let's enjoy this night together."

football.london says: Spreading between £60million and 70million over two years should be doable for Arsenal. However, having to pay the player's full €100million (£84m) release clause could cause the condition to become a stumbling block.

Sesko new price

RB Leipzig reportedly told a club approaching them about Sesko that offers above €100m (£84m) would be acceptable. However, Sky Sports News cites a source in their reporting and acknowledges that the fee is negotiable.

They also reiterate previous reporting about the release clause varying based on his performances for Leipzig. Appearances, goals and assists are reputedly factors in the fluctuating value.

football.london says: Sesko's price potentially rising higher than perhaps expected suggests Arsenal are right to purportedly prioritise Gyokeres. Now, the Sporting striker is seemingly better value than the Slovenia international.
