Arsenal legend Ian Wright admits he would love to see Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes play for the Gunners.

The 30-year-old has had a brilliant season for Ruben Amorim's side. Despite United's struggles under the former Sporting head coach, Fernandes has netted 19 goals and supplied 19 assists in 55 matches so far this season.

His most notable performance was during the Reds' 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the Europa League back in March, where he scored a hat trick, including two penalties, to see Amorim's men into the quarterfinals. He will now be looking to step up again for United in Wednesday's huge European final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao (8pm kick-off).

And Wright has heaped praise on United's star player while admitting he would love to see Fernandes in action for Mikel Arteta's team who currently sit second in the Premier League table.

"I wish we had Bruno Fernandes," the Arsenal great and former England striker said on The Overlap. "I wish we had Bruno. I would love to have him at Arsenal."

Amorim recently revealed that United are unwilling to let Fernandes - who has two years left on his contract - leave and admitted: "It's normal that there are a lot of clubs that want a player like Bruno."

United will be pleased that their key player signed a new three-year contract in August, ensuring his future at M16. However, according to the player himself, that decision could have been very different last summer.

"I sat with the club because I had an offer to leave," he said in March. "We talked about the possibility of me leaving the club or staying.

"They said what they wanted from me. I just asked if they still see me as part of the future of the club or not. I spoke at the time with (Erik) Ten Hag also.

"He was very clear with me, the club was very clear with me, that they thought I would be a big part of this rebuild. I thought that we could be successful."
