Viktor Gyokeres speaks out as Arsenal make striker No.1 transfer target

Viktor Gyokeres has addressed the swirling rumours around a move to Arsenal, who have made him their prime transfer target for the summer. With a staggering 53 goals this season, culminating in Sporting's Primeira Liga title triumph, the striker's impressive form has not gone unnoticed. Arsenal, eager to bolster their attack, are keen on Gyokeres, with some Portuguese outlets even suggesting he's already nodded to terms with the north London giants.

Gyokeres will cost £60million with Manchester United also keen on the Swede who still has a swansong match for Sporting against Benfica in the cup final. After winning the league, the 26-year-old played it cool regarding his future, neither confirming nor dismissing another stint in Lisbon.

"It's football, I'm still here," Gyokeres told Sport. "I don't know what's going to happen. Nobody can predict the future."

Sporting president Frederico Varandas has expressed his exasperation with the ongoing rumours about Gyokeres's future. "Gyokeres was leaving in the summer, a year ago, a year and a half ago... Gyokeres was going to leave, anyway. We were champions and he was already leaving," Varandas he told A Bola in February.

"In January, it was impossible and it remained so. I'm not going to add to it, it's already very media-driven and it's not worth talking about the summer market."

Arsenal, however, are not putting all their eggs in one basket and have other potential signings in mind. RB Leipzig's 21-year-old striker Benjamin Sesko is also admired, while Ipswich's Liam Delap could be a more budget-friendly option due to his £30m release clause.

Newcastle's Alexander Isak, on the other hand, would likely be a pricier acquisition if Arsenal plan to allocate transfer funds across different areas of the squad.
