Marc Cucurella has called on the Chelsea squad to "push hard" in the coming weeks as the Blues look to finish the 2024/25 season strongly.
The left-back's second half header against Manchester United on Friday night secured all three points for Enzo Maresca's side. It was a huge win for Chelsea and one which leaves them in fourth place ahead of their final match against Nottingham Forest next weekend.
Cucurella, who has now scored seven goals this season, was set up by Reece James on Friday and the Spaniard admitted the pair regularly practice getting on the end of each other's crosses in training. Speaking to the official Chelsea website, the former Brighton man said: "We work on this in training all the time.
"He knows he needs to put the ball there, and I know I need to arrive in that position. It’s a goal we are working on during the week.
"I’m very happy. The team deserved this moment. It’s true we suffered a little bit. We didn’t start the game well and we lost a bit of confidence, but we knew we needed to stay in the game and then we would have the chance to score a goal and win it."
With Champions League qualification on the line, Chelsea know that a win against Nottingham Forest next Sunday will secure a top five finish. The Blues also face Real Betis later this month in the UEFA Conference League final and Cucurella is intent on winning the competition.
"It was a very important win. We have been working for this moment all the season. Now we have two more games left. Everything depends on us," the left-back said.
"We need to push hard in the last weeks, give the last effort, and finish the season strong."
