Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has sent a message to Crystal Palace hero Eberechi Eze after he scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.
Despite Manchester City having 78% possession, 23 shots and an expected goals of 2.23, it was Eze's counter attack finish that handed the Eagles their first ever major trophy and etched a new name onto the FA Cup trophy.
The all-important goal marked Eze's fifth goal in consecutive games across all competitions.. He has been a consistent performer for Palace and has been able to handle the attacking spotlight being on him since Michael Olise's departure last summer.
Following the win at Wembley, Eze shared a picture of himself holding the FA Cup on social media with the caption: "Only God." Gunners superstar Bukayo Saka has liked the post and left a comment which included two emojis, one of an applause and the other a red heart.
football.london understands that Arsenal are interested in the 26-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta has been short of attacking options due to a series of injuries this term.
It is then no surprise that Eze, who has featured and scored for England this campaign, has been added to the Spanish manager's shortlist. With Eze now tasting success at Palace, having been at the club for five seasons, Arsenal could face a tougher challenge encouraging the Eagle to agree to a move.
The south London club will also play in Europa League next season and will likely want to keep the core group of players who helped them qualify at Selhurst Park for the upcoming campaign. There are also concerns among Arsenal fans around the age profile of Eze, with the forward set to turn 27 over the summer, and his likely high price tag.
Eze's market value sits at £46.2m according to transfermarkt. He does carry a £68m release clause that will become active again later this summer according to Football Insider.
