Ex-Aaron Rodgers Teammate Reveals Surprising Reason He Must Sign With Steelers

Throughout the entire NFL offseason thus far, Aaron Rodgers has been at the center of the rumor mill. He has been connected heavily to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but has yet to make an official decision to sign with the team.

While the expectation remains that he will end up with the Steelers, there is no concrete proof for that belief. He has shown signals of major interest in Pittsburgh, but until the ink is dried on a contract, no one should be too confident.

Rodgers has flown to the city for a visit with the Steelers. He also held a private throwing sessions with Pittsburgh star wide receiver DK Metcalf. Those two things were positive signs about his interest in the team.

All of that being said, a new reason has come out from one of Rodgers' old teammates why he should sign with the Steelers.

During a segment on "The Facility," James Jones spoke out about his former quarterback and why he should choose to play for Pittsburgh.

"He should be juiced up with this schedule," Jones said. "I'm not even talking about the Packers. The Packers, y'all split ways, that's all good. We'll see you again. They'll probably celebrate him and all that stuff. But this Jets stuff, the way they disrespected him leaving down there."

Having a chance to start off the season with revenge would have to be of interest to Rodgers. He was not treated respectfully on his way out with the Jets. However, the failure of the 2024 season in New York does not rest on his shoulders.

Rodgers completed 63 percent of his pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Those numbers would be a big upgrade for the Steelers over what they had last season.

Throughout his career, Rodgers has also thrived when disrespected or counted out. He has always found ways to use the negativity to increase his motivation for greatness. No one should expect this situation to be any different.

If Rodgers does indeed sign with Pittsburgh, he'll be doing so on a mission. He will want redemption for how the last two years went with the Jets. That would be a scary thought for all of the Steelers' opponents in 2025.

Expect to continue hearing more rumors and news about Rodgers in the coming days. No one knows when he will make his decision, but Pittsburgh remains firmly the favorite to land his services if he does play this year.
