Arsenal will almost certainly finish second in the Premier League for the third season running after beating Newcastle United on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta's men went into the game just two points ahead of the Magpies, who could have leapfrogged them with a win.

But despite the visitors making a strong start and forcing David Raya into one of his best performances of the campaign, the Gunners eventually prevailed.

Declan Rice fired Arsenal in front 10 minutes into the second half and that proved to be enough.

Newcastle end the weekend in third spot but must now beat Everton next Sunday to be sure of a top-five finish and a place in next season's Champions League.
