It’s that time of year when the big trophies are handed out, and the champions can stand up tall and proud.
In Scotland, normal service resumed because Celtic secured the 2024/25 Premiership title – their fourth in a row and 14th in the last 15 seasons, including a record-equalling 55th overall.
Over in Spain, it was Barcelona waving the Champions flag, as Hansi Flick’s all-action and free-scoring side won the La Liga title in style by beating Real Madrid to the line.
That title win also secures the domestic Treble for Barcelona, who beat Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, and they were also victorious in the Spanish Super Cup in January.
Brendan Rodgers himself is hoping to go down that road on May 24 when Celtic face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final.
Nonetheless, the La Liga title itself was confirmed on Thursday night by Barcelona, after their rivals Real Madrid had delayed proceedings the day before.

Real Madrid’s message to Barcelona after La Liga title win
The Celtic and Rangers rivalry is one of the most hated, heated and fierce in world football.
By name, the Clasico might be bigger in name and size, because you are probably talking about two of the world’s biggest clubs.

But it doesn’t match or better the intense hatred the Glasgow derby is played in, that’s why Real Madrid’s message to Barca, after their title win, is something you would never see or hear from Celtic or Rangers.
‘Congratulations to @FCBarcelona for the 2024-2025 La Liga title,’ wrote Real Madrid on social media.
Rangers opt against giving Celtic a guard of honour
First of all, ever since social media was invented, you were never going to get either club from Glasgow congratulating one another on the title.
Chaos would ensue if that happened.
Only recently, Rangers opted against giving Celtic a guard of honour, and expect that to continue for the rest of time.
In truth, it’s something Celtic don’t have to worry about too much because they are wrapping up the titles quicker than someone falling into quicksand.
