Kellen Moore was only with the Philadelphia Eagles for a single season as their offensive coordinator and play-caller, but the impact he left is one of the greatest in team history.
Moore helped stabilize the Eagles offense in 2024 on their way to a championship win in Super Bowl LIX. Shortly after the win, Moore took the head coaching job with the New Orleans Saints.
While his departure left the Eagles with another first-time play-caller, many people around the league have commended New Orleans with the coaching decision.
And that includes future Hall-of-Famer and Saints legend Drew Brees.
"I've heard nothing but great things about Kellen," Brees said over the weekend. "Look, I really respected Kellen Moore as a player when he was at Boise State. A guy who is the winningest college quarterback of all time. They were always going in as underdogs and beating teams that they had no business being on the field with back when he was playing.
"He was just kind of one of these methodical guys that you could see he has moxie and leadership skills. Obviously, he was a clutch performer. He's just carried over all of those traits to being a coach."
The Saints have their work cut out for them with no long-term solution at the quarterback position. If Moore can turn around the group, though, the Saints may eventually get back to being a championship contender.
They simply have not been following Brees' decision to retire in 2020.
