The Washington Commanders may be coming off a successful season in 2024, but the organization knows things are about to get a lot tougher over the course of next season.
For reaching the conference championship game and finishing second in the NFC East, the Commanders have one of the toughest schedules in the league in 2025.
At least that's the perception.
John Breech of CBS Sports has a different perspective, though.
Breech believes that Washington's first four games including a season opener against the New York Giants should give them plenty of wiggle room to start fast going into the 2025 season.
"Don't be surprised if the Commanders get off to a hot start and that's because they have a very friendly early-season schedule. In three of their first four games, they'll get to face a group of quarterbacks who might struggle early in the season," Breech said. "In Week 1, the Giants will likely be rolling out Russell Wilson, who would be in his first career start with the team. In Week 3, the Raiders will be starting Geno Smith, who would be making just his third career start with Las Vegas.
"In Week 4, the Falcons will have Michael Penix, who only has three career starts heading into the 2025 season. The Commanders are in a prime position to win a few games during the first month."
Games against the Giants, Raiders, Falcons should absolutely winnable for the new-look Commanders.
That could very well get them on a path to being first in the NFC East early in the year.
It might take care of the East if the rest of the division stumbles as well.
