Pau Cubarsi has told Barcelona fans to expect plenty more from Lamine Yamal after seeing [his team-mate score another brilliant goal against Villarreal](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/barcelona-la-liga/2025/5/18/24431532/barcelona-villarreal-la-liga-final-score-match-report-recap-reactions).
Yamal has played a key role in Barcelona’s double-winning season despite the fact he is still only 17 years of age.
Cubarsi isn’t too much older but has grown up with his team-mate. He’s hoping the forward can bring more fun and titles in the future.
> “It’s been many years sharing a dressing room with Lamine,” he told the media.
>
> “He has a lot more to prove. Imagine what’s coming. I hope he can bring us a lot of joy. If he enjoys it, we all enjoy it.”
Cubarsi has also enjoyed a phenomenal campaign and become first choice, despite the competition for places, but certainly isn’t getting carried away.
> “I’m very calm. I’ve always been a calm kid. Xavi gave me the opportunity,” he added.
>
> “I gave everything to show I was ready. I have a family and friends environment that makes things clear to me. I try to give my all in training and in matches.
>
> “Now it’s time to rest, and next year, with recharged energy, give it our all and improve this season, which will be difficult.”
Barcelona play for a final time in La Liga next weekend against Athletic, although Cubarsi and Yamal are likely to be in action over the summer with Spain in the Nations League.
