Arsenal are reportedly plotting a sensational move to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid, which could see star defender William Saliba head the other way, according to a report from Defensa Central.
The Gunners are desperate to strengthen in the attacking areas, as they feel this is the last obstacle to overcome before they are finally able to consistently win silverware. Bukayo Saka was injured for an extended period in the 2024/25 campaign, and amid Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard's misfiring spells, it was quickly evident that Mikel Arteta's squad lacked firepower on the flanks.
Now with new sporting director Andrea Berta, Arsenal are poised to spend up to £300 million on new players to bolster the squad. Rodrygo could be the ideal solution to their issues out wide, and they may be prepared to include Saliba as a makeweight.

As per Defensa Central, Arsenal are prepared to let Saliba switch to the Santiago Bernabeu if it means that Rodrygo arrives at the Emirates Stadium this summer. However, the Brazilian's employers are unwilling to accept such an offer. It is thought that Madrid value Rodrygo higher, given the fact that Saliba's contract is set to expire in two years' time as things stand.
Having been surrounded by the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, Rodygo's influence in the first-team has waned over the past year. His exit this summer has not been ruled out, and Real Madrid are not expected to stand in the 24-year-old's way should he wish to move elsewhere.
A two-time Champions League winner, the "spectacular" Rodrygo has the talent and experience to flourish in Arteta's squad, and a move to the Gunners could see him become one of their most crucial players, as opposed to being just another useful piece in Real Madrid's star-studded squad.
