CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - The PGA Tour trolled the Carolina Panthers on social media following this past week’s PGA Championship in Charlotte.
The post included a graphic that said “Wins since 2022,” and showed the Panthers had 14 wins, while PGA Championship winner Scottie Scheffler has 15. The post was captioned “When in Charlotte,” referring to the golf tournament being held at Quail Hollow Club.
The PGA Tour deleted the post not long after it was posted, with many people believing it was in poor taste.
One of those people who could have taken exception to it is Panthers owner David Tepper, who reportedly lives on the course and is a member of Quail Hollow.
Despite the post being in relatively poor taste, there were no lies told. Since 2022, the Panthers do only have 14 wins. And since that same year, Scheffler -- the world’s No. 1 golfer -- has in fact won 15 tour events, including the tournament at Quail Hollow.

Things are looking up, though, for the Panthers in 2025. Quarterback Bryce Young is as confident as ever coming into the new season, and during the second half of the 2024 season showed why Carolina took him with their No. 1 draft pick a year earlier. The team has also loaded up at receiver and running back, and has an offensive line that was a top 10 unit in 2024.
Defensively, some question marks remain, but the Panthers were active at the start of free agency and brought in some veteran players who have proven they can make an impact.
The PGA Tour trolled the Panthers on Instagram and X, but has since deleted the post.

While the Panthers do look better on paper heading into 2025, there is no doubt they have a narrative to change ... just ask the PGA Tour. But, for the first time in at least a few years, fans can go into a new season with some hope.
With the draft now in the rearview mirror, things are starting to ramp up for the Panthers and the rest of the NFL. Carolina started voluntary workouts in April, and OTAs will start up at the end of May before mandatory minicamp arrives June 10-12.
