Former Barcelona chief Ramon Planes has revealed Hansi Flick tried to sign Pedri for Bayern Munich before he moved to Barcelona.
Barca snapped up Pedri from Las Palmas in a brilliant bit of transfer business, but Planes says that Flick was also keen on the midfielder.
> “After the defeat against Bayern Munich in Lisbon, two days later, I received a call from his agent telling me that Bayern wanted to do a video conference,” he told Carrusel Deportivo.
>
> “I did it because they wanted Pedri. I was very surprised because he hadn’t even come to Barça. We had him signed, but he was in Las Palmas. So yes, it’s true that Bayern showed interest
>
> “I spoke with the sporting director, we had a video conference, and that’s how it was. I was surprised, and it speaks volumes about how well Bayern Munich was working at the time when it came to signing players. It’s true that he had a sensational season; he was the best player in the Second Division, and they saw that talent in him.”
Pedri is coming off the back of a sensational season for Barca and played a key role in the team’s double win. He also committed his future to the club [along the way by signing a new contract until 2030 in January](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/1/30/24355147/official-pedri-signs-new-barcelona-contract-until-2030).
