After some major changes to the NCAA Recruiting Calendar, college coaches will be hitting the road for the first time this spring to watch high school recruits competing on the AAU and grassroots scene.
Historically, these 'live periods' began in early April, and coaches were given at least two weekends in the spring to go out and evaluate prospects across the country.
However, since the implementation and subsequent explosion of the transfer portal, the NCAA (with the feedback from coaches), pushed the live periods back in the calendar and ultimately has limited the exposure of high school athletes to college coaches.
