The San Francisco 49ers finally worked out a long-term contract extension with star quarterback Brock Purdy. Despite questions about his future and whether the team should give him huge money or not, the two sides got a deal done.
Purdy received a massive five-year, $265 million deal with the 49ers. He'll be the team's franchise face for many years to come.
Since the deal was agreed to, more details have been coming in about it. One shocking details has been revealed that has taken fans by surprise.
According to a report from NFL insider Mike Garafolo, Purdy was given a no-trade clause throughout the entirety of the contract.
"As part of his five-year, $265-million extension, 49ers QB Brock Purdy received a full no-trade clause for the duration of the deal, sources tell The Insiders," he wrote. "Purdy gets financial security and control over his future in a deal that will be finalized and official soon."
Fans did not waste time taking to the comments section. San Francisco is now under fire for giving the 25-year-old quarterback a full no-trade clause.

"How did Brock purdy get a no trade clause," one fan wrote.
Another chimed in, "The 49ers think this kid is the new Joe Montana… unreal."
"Purdy’s agent is S tier for getting that no trade clause in there," a third comment read.
A fourth comment said, "$181 guaranteed, no trade clause is insane."
"This is gonna age like milk," a fifth fan wrote.
In the upcoming 2025 NFL season, Purdy will look to bounce back and lead the team to a comeback season as well. He struggled a bit in 2024, completing 65.9% of his passes for 3,864 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
